ServiceMaster by Cornerstone

Unfortunately, it isn’t unusual these days to turn on the news and hear about another wildfire breaking out. The latest wildfires have been in Nebraska but who can forget the heartbreaking photos of Australian firefighters holding on to a koala? At ServiceMaster by Cornerstone, we pray that you are never the victim of fire, but we are here through the entire process of restoration if it happens.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, a fire is reported every 24 seconds across the United States. In addition, it has been estimated that fires each year total more than $25.5 billion in property damages. Once the fire department extinguishes the fire, it is time for restoration professionals to take over. At ServiceMaster by Cornerstone, our mission is to restore your home or commercial property to pre-loss condition. Here is a closer look at how Service Master can help you during the cleanup and recovery process. Here are the steps to restoring fire damage:

  1. Assess the damage

This first step usually involves assessing the contents inside of the damaged property to figure out what should be thrown out and what can be restored. It is also an opportunity for us to have a chance to determine the scope of the job. The scope includes how long the job will take as well as an estimate of how much all the repairs should cost.

  1. Securing the Property

During this process, we will put fencing around the property, board up openings in the structure, and seal off or tarp areas of the roof. This helps protect what is left of the property from vandals and weather. In addition, if there is an area of the property that was not impacted by the fire, this area must be sealed off from the impacted area to avoid cross-contamination.

  1. Dry Out and Demolition

The goal during this stage is to prevent mold or further damage caused by the water used to put out the fire. In addition, heavy-duty fans will need to be brought in to dry out where water is built up, so it does not cause drywall damage. Finally, in some cases, the flooring or roofing materials might have to be removed to get the home back in good shape structurally.

  1. Smoke Removal and Clean up

One of the most complex parts of the job is cleaning the soot and ash and removing any odor behind the fire. During this stage, we will collect your salvageable belongings at and take them to our factory. We have industrial washing machines and dishwashers capable of restoring your property to like-new condition. The cleanup also involves cleaning out your air vents and ducts so there is no fire evidence when you return home.

  1. Reconstruction

The final step is reconstructing your property. This could include replacing the roof, electrical, drywall, flooring, counters, fixtures, and even entire rooms. We assure you; that you will be happy with the results. Our goal is to have your house looking the way it did before the disaster struck.
